Navya finalist in Dubai RTA World Challenge 2023

VILLEURBANNE, France–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Regulatory news:

NAVYA (FR0013018041- Navya) (Paris:NAVYA), a leader in autonomous mobility systems, has qualified for the final of the Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport 2023, organized by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority. Navya won two of the three prizes awarded at the 2019 Challenge and is shortlisted for the 2023 edition which focuses on autonomous buses.

Placed under the high patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, the Challenge is an international competition open to players in the field of autonomous passenger transport, which reflects the spirit of the RTA. commitment to accelerating innovation and transforming mobility. The Government of Dubai’s Vision 2030 target is for 25% of all travel to be smart and driverless across Dubai by 2030.

This ambition is supported by $2 million in funding, which will be split among the award-winning industry leaders, with the goal of the competition being to design a solution to transport the public in a safe and secure manner by self-driving. the buses. Each proposal will be evaluated against four criteria: “Safety and Security”, “Passenger Transport Performance”, “Operational Design Area” and “Operational Capabilities”.

Navya and its partner Bluebus will bring in their autonomous Bluebus IT3, 6 meters long and capable of carrying 36 passengers. The next stage of the competition will be the technical presentation to RTA experts and the tests in real conditions in Dubai during the summer of 2030. This will represent a major step in the launch of the Autonom® Bluebus in the Middle East.

Winners in each category will be announced at the Dubai World Congress on September 26e and 27e2023, with the aim of raising public and transport industry awareness of innovative self-driving solutions and assessing the impact of technology on investment and public transport strategies.

We are proud of our collaboration with Navya and the fantastic 6 meter Autonom® Bluebus we produced together! It has a record range of over 200 km and is equipped with solid-state batteries that we rolled out in 2011 and continue to improve. Beyond their level of safety and their performance over time – we offer one of the longest guarantees in the sector – our batteries are particularly well suited to hot climates, thanks to their wide operating temperature range. There is no need for elaborate cooling like in traditional Li-ion batteries. In fact, there is no need for cooling at all, which is yet another advantage of the Autonom® Blue bus!

Richard Bouveret, President of Bluebus

The Dubai World Challenge perfectly reflects the changing needs of the global market. Navya was among the winners of the 2019 edition, which focused on the first and last mile, and we will be back for the 2023 edition, where the focus will be on self-driving buses. The criteria taken into account are the increase in speed, the increase in the number of passengers, safety, security and performance on which Navya has specifically focused its efforts this year. With our autonomy® Bluebus we contribute to building the future of mobility around the world in response to the expectations of our customers.
