Christmas cheer came a little early for seniors at the Elaine Lucas Senior Center in Macon.
MACON, Ga. (41NBC/WMGT) — Christmas cheer has come a little early for seniors at the Elaine Lucas Senior Center in Macon.
Thanks to Macon Mental Health Matters, they were able to discover their own Polar Express.
For the second year, seniors were able to ride horse-drawn carriages around Carolyn Crayton Park.
Macon Mental Health Matters says it’s an effort to help alter the impact of seasonal depression and lack of visitors during the holidays.
Gloria Cisse, the clinical director of MMHM, says they are concerned about the mental health of the whole community.
“When we improve the mental health of older people, we improve the mental health of everyone who follows them,” Cisse said.
The seniors were also able to enjoy a hot chocolate. Macon Mental Health Matters says it hopes to host the Polar Express experience for years to come.
